COVID-19: Woman ADG among three senior IPS officers test positive in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Three senior IPS officers were tested positive for COVID 19 in Hyderabad.

They include a woman officer of Additional DG rank and two other officers of Additional DG and Joint Commissioner rank. All of them are posted in Hyderabad city police and stationed in the headquarters.

According to official sources, the 2004 batch officer, who holds a key position in the police department was tested positive for the virus and has been placed under isolation from Thursday. He has become the first IPS officer in Telangana to be tested positive for COVID.

His team was involved in tracing the Tablighi jamaat attendees in April 2020. Under his guidance, the team had traced and tested the Markaz participants. His team was also involved in contact tracing of positive patients and helping the police department to plan for the containment measures in the respective areas.

On Friday, the reports of two more IPS officers came back positive. They included a woman officer holding a key position in the Hyderabad city police. They belong to 1994 and 1988 batches respectively.

Their subordinate and ministerial staff were advised to remain under home quarantine. Additional measures were taken to sanitize the buildings from where they were operating.

Two officers were operating from different floors of the same building, while another was operating from a separate building in Hyderabad city police at Basheerbagh and Lakdikapul respectively.
