Covid patient sexually abused by employee at Ayurveda College in Hyd
By Newsmeter Network Published on 13 Sep 2020 8:36 AM GMTHyderabad: Even as the memories of a Covid-19 patient raped by an ambulance driver in Kerala are still afresh, another patient was allegedly sexually abused by an employee at the Government Ayurveda College and Hospital at Erragadda in Hyderabad. The employee, who befriended the victim staying in isolation at the hospital and approached her under the pretext of applying a pain balm and sexually abused her. The victim complained to the hospital authorities. However, there was no complaint lodged with the police in this regard.
The Government Ayurveda College and Hospital at Erragadda is one of the government hospitals in the city treating Covid-19 patients. Two weeks ago, the victim, in her late 20s and a resident of Nampally, was admitted to this hospital for Covid-19 treatment.
Meanwhile, one of the outsourcing employees at the hospital, identified as Kiran, was allotted work at the ward where the victim was admitted. During this period, he befriended her and they used to interact frequently. In this process, a couple of days ago, he approached the victim.
However, she refused but as he proceeded, she warned him of complaining to the hospital authorities. Later, she complained to the authorities alleging that he had sexually abused her.
The hospital authorities told media persons that they took notice of the complaint and issued a warning to the worker. However, the victim alleged that there was no action on the worker.
