COVID vaccine from Hyderabad by September likely: KCR

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K ChandraShekar Rao, on May 5th, announced extension of lockdown in the state till May 29th, 2020. However, In what came as a revelation to many is three Hyderabad based bio-tech companies have done a robust research on COVID and are likely to come up with a vaccine by August or September, the CM said.

Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, the Chief Minister said, "Hyderabad might emerge as the provider of anti-corona virus to the world. Three city based biotech companies in Genome Valley, namely Bharat Biotech, Biological Evans and Shantha Biotechnics are researching on the virus and working toward producing the vaccine. Some of the representatives have donated money to the CM relief funds, while conversing with them, It was learnt that a robust research is on. We may have a vaccine by August or September, likely.'

He further added, If this comes to pass, Hyderabad will emerge as a vaccine provider to the world. We pray to god that the vaccines should be ready soon.

KCR reiterated that lockdown is the only weapon so far to flatten the CoronaVirus curve. " People should start living with the virus. One should continue to protect themselves duly by following the norms. Elders and children should not venture outside unless it is emergency' he advised.
