Hyderabad: In a major anti-narcotics operation, Kollur Police and the Special Operations Team (SOT), Serilingampally Zone, jointly apprehended two drug peddlers and seized 101.711 kilograms of ganja worth Rs 25.72 lakh.
The accused were caught near Shilpa Venture at Tellapur village, Sangareddy, while allegedly preparing to distribute the contraband to construction labourers in the area.
Accused from Andhra Pradesh
The arrested persons have been identified as: Baswa Jaganatham (37), a farmer from Shashanapally village, Jami Mandal, Vijayanagaram district, Andhra Pradesh.
Pallapu Laxminarayana (52) from Veeranjaneyapally village, Puttaparthi district, Andhra Pradesh.
Police said another accused, identified as Raju of Chitrakonda, Odisha, is absconding and is believed to be the main supplier.
Modus Operandi
According to investigators, the accused noticed that labourers working at construction sites were consuming ganja and decided to exploit the demand for easy money.
About 10 days ago, the supplier allegedly provided 101.711 kg of ganja to the two peddlers. The contraband was shifted to Tellapur, close to labour camps, with plans to sell it in small quantities. Acting on specific information, police teams intercepted and arrested the duo before distribution.
Four mobile phones were also recovered from their possession.

Authorities assured that the identity of informants will be kept confidential.
