Nacharam, Uppal will be watched by 146 community CCTV cameras
By Newsmeter Network Published on 3 April 2021 11:15 AM GMTHyderabad: As part of the expansion plans for community CCTV cameras network across Rachakonda Commissionerate, CP Mahesh Bhagwat IPS, on Saturday inaugurated 146 community CCTV cameras under Nacharam and Uppal Police station limits, installed at a cost of over Rs 50 lakhs.
The cameras were installed at strategic locations covering entry and exit points, main routes, and crime-prone areas of the localities. As of Saturday, there are 254 community CC cameras and 9,425 Nenu Saitham cameras installed under the limits of Uppal and Nacharam police stations. In the recent past, snatching cases, a house burglary, and robbery cases were caught on CCTV footage.
Speaking on the occasion, Mahesh Bhagwat said that, 100 percent recovery in theft cases has become possible due to CCTV cameras. CCTV cameras have become an important aspect of modern-day policing and almost 70 percent of the crimes are being resolved using the footage. He urged the citizens and public representatives to come forward and install more cameras in their respective areas.
Uppal MLA Betti Subhas Reddy said it was a good initiative where citizens with the help of police have come forward and installed CCTV cameras for their own security. He appealed to the public to join hands and bring in a safer Rachakonda. He also appealed to the local representatives to ensure the installation of cameras in the remaining colonies.
