1,500 kg of red sanders worth Rs. 60.18L seized in Malkajgiri
The police busted an interstate red sanders smuggling gang and seized 1,500 kg (1.5 tonnes) of red sanders worth Rs. 60.18 lakh on Friday.

The sleuths of the special operations team (SOT), LB Nagar zone, along with the Malkajgiri police, arrested two persons ā Shaik Mohammed Rafi (24) and Mulla Basheer Amhed (51) ā and seized 31 Red Sanders logs.
Another accused, Murthy, is absconding.
Shaik Mohammed Rafi of Maddunur in Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh, used to transport bananas from Andhra Pradesh to various states, including UP, Rajasthan, Delhi, and Telangana. Mulla Basheer Ahmed, a resident of Sainikpuri in Neredmet, was also in the same business. He used to purchase bananas from Rafi and supply it to Telangana.
After incurring loss in the banana business, the two had hatched a plan to procure and sell red sanders in Telangana. They met Murthy of Lingaladinnepalli, Brahmamgarimatham, in Kadapa district and paid him Rs. 1 lakh for 31 logs of red sanders. They had smuggled the logs to Hyderabad and stored them near a government land near Moula-Ali Dargah in Malkajgiri.
On 12 May, after receiving a tip-off, the SOT LB Nagar zone team and the Malkajgiri police raided the illegal red sanders storage and arrested the two accused and seized the red sanders.
