17 bikes recovered from 3 habitual bike thieves held in Jeedimetla

Hyderabad: Three persons were arrested and 17 stolen motorcycles with Rs 6.65 lakhs were recovered from them. The three have been identified as Gogula Devasahayam (27), Reddy Ramesh (27) and Manne Raju (35). Another accused Kalaal Shiva Kumar Goud is absconding. The three were nabbed by the specially formed teams/sleuths of Jeedimetla PS on March 25.

Case details

According to the police, the accused have been involved in automobile thefts for quite some time. They said to have committed automobile offences in many areas including Jeedimetla (8), Suraram (4) Jagathgirigutta PS (1) of the Cyberabad Commissonerate and Narsapur PS (1), Kamareddy PS (1), Yellareddy PS (1) and Medak Town PS (1) of other districts since June 2023.

Devasahayam has a criminal record in two automobile theft cases in Medchal and Kamareddy districts. Devasahayam alias Deva is said to be involved in 17 automobile thefts. Reddy Ramesh in 14 thefts, Manne Raju in 12 thefts and Shiva Kumar Goud in four automobile thefts.

Accused would target bikes parked inside homes

A1 and A2 met in a toddy shop at Shapur Nagar in December 2023. Both are addicted to liquor and other bad habits and their earnings are not sufficient to meet their lavish expenses.

They hatched a plan to earn easy money by stealing motorcycles by using false/duplicate keys. They especially targeted handle-locked bikes parked at residential premises, commercial establishments and other parking places, They would mortgage the stolen vehicles with A3 take an amount from him and use the money lavishly. A3 would mortgage his vehicles with A4 and take a huge amount from him. A4 is his village mechanic friend.

The police have a list of the motorbikes they recovered with their details.
