2 drug peddlers from Rajasthan caught in Uppal

2 drug peddlers from Rajasthan caught in Uppal

Hyderabad: The special operations team (SOT), LB Nagar zone, along with the Uppal police busted an interstate drug syndicate and arrested two drug peddlers on Monday at VT Kaman, Uppal bus stop.

The police recovered 1.5 kgs of opium, a two-wheeler, two mobile phones, net cash Rs. 500, all worth Rs. 12.15 lakh, from their possession.The two accused have been identified as Mangi Lal (22) and Om Prakash (26). Both are from Rajasthan. A third co-accused is on the run and is yet to be arrested. As per the FIR, efforts are on to ascertain the source of the peddlers and to nab the other co-accused.


The police had received a tip-off that two persons involved in illicit drug business would come to VT Kaman, Uppal bus stop, to supply the contraband. They caught the two men and searched them as per the provisions of the NDPS Act.

During interrogation, Mangi Lal told the police that he had met Rahul two years ago. Rahul brought the contraband from Rajasthan to Hyderabad and supplied them in and around the city. He said he had procured the drugs from Rahul to supply them to the needy people. Further investigation is in progress, the police said.
