The drug supplier, Masada Pedda Balanna (32), and receiver Rasheed (31) are absconding, the police said.
Both Lumbaram Solanki and Kishna Ram are from Rajasani village in Rajasthan's Jodhpur district.
Chance connections
A few years ago, Solanki had purchased a vehicle to transport gutka from Karnataka to Hyderabad. Later, he had sold it to Mangilal, also from Rajasthan, who used it to transport ganja from Andhra Pradesh to Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. A year ago, Mangilal was caught by the Narsingpur police of Madhya Pradesh. Since Mangilal had not paid the entire money for the vehicle, Solanki had not transferred the registration in his favour.
About eight months ago, Solanki met Mangilal in Narsingpur district jail where the latter explained the entire process of illegal ganja transportation from Narsipatnam agency area to UP and gave Solanki the phone numbers of the supplier, Masada Pedda Balanna of Visakhapatnam district, and receiver, Rasheed of UP. In this way, Solanki had become involved in the drug trade.
Going big
In his first trip, Solanki had purchased a small quantity of ganja (10 kg) and transported it to Hyderabad in RTC buses. He subsequently transported the same to Nagpur in Maharashtra in private vehicles and handed it over to Rasheed. After his first success, he continued this illegal activity five more times during which he transported small amounts (10 and 20 kg) of ganja.
Recently, Solanki had planned to transport a huge quantity of ganja to earn more money and included Kishna Ram in his plan. The two went to the Narsipatnam area and procured 110 kg of ganja on 28 October. They were caught the next day with the drug near ORR under the limits of Abdullapurmet police station.
