Hyderabad: The sleuths of the Special Operations Team (SOT) from Balanagar Zone, along with Jeedimetla PS, apprehended two interstate drug peddlers for transporting ganja from Odisha to Maharashtra.

Around Rs 1 crore worth of contraband including 400 kg of Ganja, a lorry and mobile phones have been recovered from the accused identified as Bablu Khare alias Krishna and Govind Patidar.

The police have registered a case and are searching for another two accused, Bablu the supplier and Aravind the receiver.

Case details

As per police records, the accused Bablu Khare and Govind Patidar hailed from Madhya Pradesh and had been working as lorry drivers for the last several years.

Using Bablu Khare’s lorry, the duo were working for the South Gujarat Carriers Transport in Indore, and the job required them to travel to Rajahmundry, Odissa and other states.

To get more money, they got into the illegal transportation of banned narcotic drugs such as Ganja in their vehicle. Recently, they met Bablu from Odissa who gave them the consignment of transporting Ganja from Rajahmundry to deliver it to Aravind.

The accused spent the amount given by Bablu for repairing the vehicle at Rajahmundry and were later told that Aravind would meet them at Sangareddy and take them to Lathur. On the same day, they loaded 40 sealed bundles containing 400 kg of Ganja on the outskirts of Rajahmundry and covered them with nursery plants etc.

On December 15 at about 6:30 pm, their truck was stopped by the SOT Balanagar with the assistance of Jeedimetla PS. Upon searching the contraband was found, seized and the two were arrested.
