Hyderabad: Two members of a notorious burglary gang that looted 98 houses across the state were arrested by the Balnagar police on 15 June. The gang had committed 68 burglaries in Cyberabad, 10 in Nizamabad, two each in Karimnagar and Kamareddy, six in Warangal, nine in Jagitial, and one in Siddipet.

The arrested persons have been identified as Maan Singh (26) and Mohabatt (35). Two others Rem Singh (23) and Kishan Singh (29) – were arrested last year.

From 2018 to March 2022, a series of burglaries occurred within the limits of Cyberabad and other areas of Telangana. The special teams collected clues (CCTV footage, MO, chance prints, and technical information), visited all the crime scenes, and analysed the information collected. They came to the conclusion that the gang is from Dhar district in Madhya Pradesh.

They discovered that the 11-member gang had visited Telangana 21 times from 2018 to March 2022 and robbed houses. According to the police, the gang members hail from remote areas of Madhya Pradesh. To diver suspicion, they targeted Hyderabad and its suburbs. In one night, the gang would target multiple houses and rob them.

They would rob several houses every time they came to Telangana. They also stole motorbikes to escape after committing the offences and later, abandoned them in isolated places. The gang members would go back to their hometown with the stolen items and dispose of them there.
