Hyderabad: The Crime Investigation Department (CID) of Telangana arrested two more persons in the sensational interstate organ trafficking case, bringing the total number of arrests in the case to 15.

The accused were allegedly involved in trafficking poor individuals from Tamil Nadu and orchestrating illegal kidney transplants in Hyderabad.

What is the case about?

The case, originally registered at the Saroor Nagar Police Station (Cr. No. 85/2025) following a complaint by the Deputy DM & HO, Ranga Reddy District, pertains to illegal organ transplants carried out at Alakananda Multi Speciality Hospital in Kothapet. It was transferred to the CID for a detailed investigation on April 24.

The latest two arrests were made on May 26 in Chennai by a special CID team from RO Sangareddy. The accused were identified as Sai Shankaran (56) and N Ramya (36), both residents of Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

CID officials seized a passport and two mobile phones from the accused. They were brought to Hyderabad on transit remand and produced before the court on May 29.

Modus operandi

According to CID sources, the accused targeted economically disadvantaged individuals in Tamil Nadu, luring them with promises of employment. The victims were then trafficked to Hyderabad, where illegal kidney transplants were performed with the help of other conspirators, including Pradeep from Bengaluru, Pavan, and their associates.

Each transplant reportedly earned the accused a commission of Rs 10 lakh, of which Rs 4 to Rs 5 lakhs were paid to the donor, while the rest was allegedly pocketed by the traffickers.

Investigation and further action

The CID has so far arrested 15 accused in the case. Authorities are actively pursuing seven more absconding individuals, including Pavan, Poornachander and others.
