2 tax officials from Hyderabad & Vizag caught accepting bribes

A case was registered against a senior tax assistant working in the office of the Additional CIT, Income Tax, Hyderabad, and another senior tax assistant of the Vizag Income Tax department on the allegations that they conspired and demanded Rs. 1,00,000 from a person to issue a TDS certificate.

2 tax officials from Hyderabad & Vizag caught accepting bribes

Hyderabad: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested two tax assistants posted at the Income Tax department in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam for taking a bribe of Rs. 60,000.

A case was registered against a senior tax assistant working in the office of the Additional CIT, Income Tax, Hyderabad, and another senior tax assistant of the Vizag Income Tax department on the allegations that they conspired and demanded Rs. 1,00,000 from a person to issue a TDS certificate.

It was also alleged that after negotiation, the officials reduced the amount to Rs. 60,000.

After receiving the complaint, the CBI laid a trap and caught the Hyderabad senior tax assistant red-handed while demanding and accepting his share of the bribe (Rs. 40,000). The share of the other accused was allegedly paid online. He was also caught.
