Hyderabad: Two employees of Telangana Southern Power Distribution Limited (TSPDCL) were apprehended by the anti-corruption bureau while demanding and accepting bribes.
I. Avinash, an assistant engineer (operations) of TSSPDCL, Sanath Nagar section, Banjara Hills circle, was caught red-handed taking a bribe of Rs. 10,000 from G. Bhaskar Reddy, a private electric contractor, to release electricity meters and to allot service connection numbers pertaining to his electricity contract work.
The tainted amount of Rs. 10,000 was recovered from Avinash. The fingers of both his hands tested positive.
Earlier, C. Krupananda Reddy, a line inspector of TSSPDCL, Sanath Nagar section, Banjara Hills circle, was caught demanding Rs. 7,500 as bribe. He had accepted Rs. 3,500 as initial payment.
"Both the accused performed their duty improperly and dishonestly to obtain an undue advantage. Therefore, they are being arrested and produced before the principal special judge for SPE and ACB cases court at Nampally, Hyderabad. The case is under investigation," said an ACB official.
