2,233 kilograms of dry ganja seized, 67 cases registered in Visakhapatnam this year

Visakhapatnam: Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB) registered 67 NDPS cases and seized 2,233kgs of dry ganja in the Visakhapatnam city this year so far.

Additional Commissioner of Police (ADCP), SEB, Ajitha V said the SEB personnel raided an apartment in the Pendurthy area on Wednesday evening and arrested two women, Panchadi Vasundhara and Kangu Sireesha. One kg of hash oil made from ganja was recovered from them.

In another incident, Duvvada police arrested four persons, J Balkaraju, J Durga Prasad, Vanathala Kesava Rao, and S Mandmadha Rao, from Duvvada railway station and seized 48 kgs of dry ganja. They had concealed 10 kgs of ganja in a cooking gas cylinder and remaining in the auto-rickshaw seat cover. They were returning from Sabbavaram after purchasing drugs at Peda Bayulu in the Visakhapatnam agency.

In the third incident, Fourth Town police arrested two youngsters, M Venkata Sanju Raju and Devudu Saibaba, when they were boarding a private travel bus at Visakhapatnam RTC complex to reach Hyderabad. Police recovered seven kgs of ganja from them.

Likewise, the SEB personnel arrested A Nagababu who was carrying Rs 1.65 lakh worth ghutka from Bhubaneswar to Vijayawada. He was caught at the RTC complex in Visakhapatnam.

They also arrested G Srirama Murthy and Bandi Ashok at Zinc Gate, Visakhapatnam. The due was carrying 138 liquor bottles which they procured from Vizianagaram and intended to sell at higher price in Visakhapatnam.

Ajitha V said on the directions of the Narcotics Control Bureau, an anti-drug drive has been launched in the state from December 15. It would continue till December 22.
