270 drunk drivers caught during New Year enforcement drive sent to jail
Due to strict enforcement and court proceedings, so far, the Courts in Hyderabad have convicted 270 persons for driving under the influence of alcohol during this period

Hyderabad: In connection with the New Year 2026 celebrations, the Hyderabad Traffic Police conducted special enforcement drives against drunk and drive offences across the city from December 24 to 31, 2025, with the aim of ensuring road safety and preventing accidents.
Letters sent to offenders’ educational institutions/offices
Due to strict enforcement and court proceedings, so far, the Courts in Hyderabad have convicted 270 persons for driving under the influence of alcohol during this period.
The convicted offenders were awarded imprisonment and sent to jail. Further, letters are being sent to the departments concerned and education institutes where these respondents are employed or studying, requesting them to take necessary action.
The Hyderabad Traffic Police has once again reminded the public that drunk driving is a serious offence and poses a major risk to public safety.
Such violations will be dealt with strictly, and offenders will face severe legal consequences without any leniency. These special enforcement drives will continue in the interest of saving lives and maintaining road discipline.
