3 AC coaches of Korba-Visakhapatnam Express catch fire in Vizag; none hurt

By Newsmeter Network Published on 4 Aug 2024 6:48 AM GMTVisakhapatnam: Fire broke out in three AC coaches of the Korba-Visakhapatnam Express on Sunday morning shortly after the train arrived at Visakhapatnam Railway Station. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
The incident happened on Sunday morning when the train arrived on platform no 4 at 6 am.
According to the East Coast Railway officials, train arrived at 6:30 AM and train was locked and about to move for coaching depot at 9:45 AM. ā It was noticed that smoke is coming from B7 coach .
To douse fire with water cannon, Door and window glasses had to be broken since the empty coach was in locked condition.

All trains have left Visakhapatnam on time and train operations were not affected. The coach was taken to Maintenance Depot for investigation and rectification. All trains are running on scheduled timings.
DRM Waltair Saurabh Prasad ordered an inquiry into the incident. Expert teams from East Coast Railway Head Quarters, Integral Coach Factory (ICF) and RDSO Lucknow and State Forensics team have been called to assist in the Inquiry.
