Hyderabad: The Kushaiguda police apprehended three persons on 29 November and recovered over Rs. 11 lakhs from them.

The accused have been identified as Eerasarapu Sampath Kumar (19), Eerasarapu Venkatesh (50), and Eerasarapu Maheshwari (45). All are from Aleir mandal.

On 27 November, cops received a complaint from Dhooka Anand Rao claiming that his ATM card was stolen and money withdrawn from his account. Rao lived alone and due to his old age, he had hired the three men in August this year to look after him. Sampath worked for Rao till October and then quit claiming that he met with an accident and would be unable to work.

On Friday, Rao went to Syndicate Bank in Sainikpuri to lodge a complaint regarding his missing ATM card and also to check his bank statement. To his surprise, he found that since October somebody had been withdrawing Rs. 40,000-50,000 for every transaction.

Further, Rao said that he had written down his ATM PIN on a piece of paper that he kept in the ATM card cover. He suspected that Sampath might have stolen his card and withdrawn money, amounting to approximately Rs. 12,00,000.

Based on his complaint, a case was registered and on Sunday the police arrested Sampath and recovered Rs. 11,35,000 from his residence. He confessed to the theft.
