Hyderabad: The special operations team, Madhapur zone, arrested three persons in Chandanagar and seized 81 kg of ganja from them on 12 April.

The officers intercepted a goods carrier vehicle at the Nalagandla crossroad near Ravindar Reddy function hall in Chandanagar following a tip-off that the three persons were in possession of ganja. The arrested persons have been identified as Pastham Raju (37), Yedla Venkat Reddy (48), and Ganji Praveen Reddy (37). All are from Warangal.

The men had bought 81 kg of dry ganja from Chithrakonda village near Balimela in Odisha and were planning to sell it in Hyderabad.

The police found that Pastham Raju sold iron cots in small villages in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Once he went to the Andhra-Odisha border to sell cots where he met one ganja seller. Raju decided to get in the ganja trade.

According to their plan, Venkat Reddy and Praveen Reddy came to Hyderabad with 81 kg of ganja.

The police seized 37 packets of ganja (each about 2.2 kg), cell phones, and vehicles – all worth Rs. 40,50 lakh – from them.
