3 ganja peddlers caught in Chilkalguda; 11.5 kg of contraband seized

Hyderabad: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the sleuths of the Commissioner’s Task Force, Secunderabad Zone, along with Chilkalguda police, busted a Ganja peddling racket on Wednesday.

Three inter-state peddlers were apprehended while attempting to sell the contraband near the Secunderabad Railway Station area.

The police also apprehended four individuals who were found to be ganja consumers at the spot.

Modus Operandi

The prime accused, identified as Subhash Mishal, a native of Odisha’s Rayagada district, was the kingpin of the operation. Investigations revealed that Subhash procured Ganja from a supplier named Malli, currently absconding, also a resident of the Rayagada district.

Subhash, along with his associates Pabitra Bira and Bapun Bidika, transported the contraband from Odisha to Hyderabad. The accused had conspired to sell the Ganja at inflated prices to customers in the city to make quick financial gains.

Seizures and arrests

Acting on credible information, the joint team conducted a raid near the Railway Quarters in Chilkalguda.

During the search, the police recovered 11.530 kg of ganja and 2 grams of loose ganja. Three mobile phones used for coordinating the illegal trade were also seized. The total value of the confiscated items is estimated at approximately Rs 4,38,000.

The accused persons have been identified as Subhash Mishal (33), Pabitra Bira (24) and Bapun Bidika (24). Additionally, four consumers were detained: Chimala Jethin, Aditya Kamble, K Das Vamshi Krishna, and Sankili Mahesh.

The Chilkalguda police have registered a case in Crime No. 123/2026 under Sections 8(c) read with 20(b)(ii)(B) and 27(b) of the NDPS Act.

The operation was led by Inspectors J Raj Shekar, Task Force, Secunderabad Zone and V Rama Krishna, Chilkalguda PS, along with their respective teams. A manhunt has been launched to nab the absconding supplier, Malli, the police said.
