3 ganja smugglers arrested in Medchal, 62 kg ganja seized

The Medchal police along with the special operations team from Balanagar, Cyberabad, arrested three ganja smugglers, including two women, on Monday. They were illegally transporting ganja from Vizag in Andhra Pradesh to Akola, Maharastra.

Hyderabad: The Medchal police along with the special operations team from Balanagar, Cyberabad, arrested three ganja smugglers, including two women, on Monday. They were illegally transporting ganja from Vizag in Andhra Pradesh to Akola, Maharastra.

The arrested persons have been identified as Karan Nana Jadhav (25), Devki Chouhan (37), and Indu Mohithe (45). All are from the Akola district in Maharashtra. The police seized 62.5 kg ganja from the three.

Meanwhile, three other gang members – Pentya Chowhan, Usha Chouhan and Pangi Mallesh – are absconding.

Pentya Chowhan had paid Karan, Devki, Indu, and Usha Rs. 5,000 each to transport ganja from Vishakapatnam to Akola. On 1 December, the five went to Annavaram by train and collected 30 bags of ganja weighing about 62.595 kg from Pangi Mallesh of Vishakapatnam.

On 9 December, they left Annavaram, travelled by lorries/DCMs, and reached Patanchervu RTC bus stand two days later. Pangi Mallesh suspected that the police might have observed them and fled with Usha. In the meantime, Karan, Devki, and Indu left for Akola and reached Medchal on 12 December where they were arrested.
