Hyderabad: Three persons were arrested on Saturday in connection with the murder of Syed Ahmed Qadri (45) and his wife Syed Meraj Fatima (40), which occurred in the Satya Colony of Tolichowki.

Sharing the details of the case with the media, inspector MGS Ramakrishna of the Film Nagar police said, the investigation revealed the involvement of a Mumbai-based goat businessman, Asghar Shiekh of Nadeem Colony, who had invested Rs 20 lakhs in Qadri’s purported goat farm project.

Fatima, employed as a dietician in a private hospital, was the primary breadwinner supporting the couple’s lavish lifestyle.

As time passed, Qadri failed to keep his promise of opening a goat farm with the money taken from Asghar, prompting Asghar to demand the return of his money. Later, Asghar discovered that Qadri did not possess the 100 acres of land, as he had claimed earlier, leading Asghar to believe he had been deceived.

Seeking revenge, Asghar, along with accomplices Muhammad Hussain and Muhammad Salman, devised a plan to murder Qadri. On November 28, they invited Qadri for dinner and killed him by suffocating him with a pillow. Subsequently, Qadri’s body was discreetly buried near Shatan Pond.

Then the trio visited Qadri’s home the next day, pressuring Fatima to return the money. When she couldn’t comply, they strangled her and staged the crime to appear as a suicide. They then looted her gold ornaments, turned on the gas cylinder, and fled the scene, said the police.

Fatima’s sister, alarmed by the lack of response from the couple, found Fatima’s body upon breaking into the locked house. Suspecting foul play, she reported the incident to the Film Nagar police, initially believing that Qadri had murdered his wife.

Extensive investigations, using phone call records, tower location details, and CCTV footage, led authorities to Muhammad Salman from Manikonda. Upon his detainment and subsequent interrogation, Salman confessed to the double murder while explaining the motives and the other's involvement in the murders.
