32 students of Nalgonda gurukul fall ill due to alleged food poisoning; probe demanded
Nalgonda: As many as 32 students of Ashram Gurukul School at Mudigonda in Nalgonda district were hospitalised after they developed symptoms of food poisoning on Monday.
Chicken dinner, pulihora breakfast
According to police, the students had eaten chicken curry with rice for dinner on Sunday night and pulihora rice for breakfast on Monday morning. Soon after breakfast, many of them started vomiting and complained of loose motions.
13 students were critical initially
The school management rushed the sick students to a hospital in Devarakonda town. āInitially, 13 students were in serious condition, but they are now stable. Some of the other students have already been discharged,ā said the Inspector of Devarakonda Police Station.
Doctors suspect gas formation
Doctors treating the students suspect that gas formation due to the consumption of pulihora rice may have caused the vomiting and diarrhoea. They confirmed that all students are currently out of danger.
Authorities are likely to initiate an inquiry into the quality and safety of food served at the residential school to avoid such incidents in future.

Bandi Sanjay slams Congress over food poisoning incident
Taking on his X account, Union minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar has criticised the Congress government after nearly 40 students fell ill following breakfast at Mudigonda Ashram School, with some shifted to Devarakonda Government Hospital and others to Thorrupalli.
He said this was not an isolated incident but a reflection of continuous administrative failures. āDuring the BRS regime, food poisoning cases were rampant. Congress promised change, but has delivered the same hell in a different uniform. If the government cannot provide proper food to students, what business does it have running the State?ā he questioned.
