4 held for murder of transgender woman in Fateh Nagar

By Newsmeter Network Published on 15 July 2024 2:23 PM GMTHyderabad: Sanathnagar police on Monday arrested four individuals in connection with the brutal murder of Sheela, a 27-year-old transgender person. The incident occurred on July 12 at Valmiki Nagar Graveyard, Fateh Nagar.
The arrested individuals are Dudani Sagar Singh (24), Onnapuram Praveen (20), Karan Biswajit, (20) and Baling Abhinav (19).
As per case details, Sheela, who was living in the HMT Society, Shapur Nagar, Quthbullapur, Jeedimetla, was attacked by the four men.
Inspector of Sanathnagar Police M Muthu Yadav stated, āOn the morning of July 12, the deceased was present at Narsapur X Road when A1 to A3 demanded money. Despite giving Rs 3,000, Sheela was forced to reveal her phone password but she refused. The accused then took her to Valmiki Nagar Graveyard, tied her up and beat her severely.ā
Sheela was targeted for money
The motive behind the murder was robbery. When Sheela was unable to provide more money, the accused took her to her residence to search for her ATM card. Unable to find it, they decided to kill her.
āAfter failing to find the ATM card, they dragged Sheela back to the graveyard and beat her again, resulting in her death due to the injuries,ā explained the inspector.
On Monday, the police chased and arrested the accused. They recovered a weapon, Rs 2,500 in cash, three mobile phones and the motorcycles used in the crime.
The Inspector of Sanathnagar Police remarked, āThe accused confessed to the crime and their statements led to the recovery of the weapon and other items. The CCTV footage corroborated the events.ā They were produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
