4 human traffickers engaged in prostitution racket nabbed, 2 Bangladeshi victims rescued

Hyderabad: The anti-human trafficking unit rescued two Bangladeshi women who were trafficked for prostitution and arrested four persons on 30 November.

On 28 October, the anti-human trafficking unit (AHTU) received information that some persons were involved in prostitution. Helped by the Abdullapurmet police, they conducted a decoy operation and apprehended Sana Khan, Qamar Unnisa, and Mohd. Parwez Khan and rescued five victims. A case was registered under various sections of the IPC and the PITA Act at Abdullahpurmet police station. The arrested persons were remanded for judicial custody.

During interrogation, they revealed that Mozam Mondal provided sex workers for prostitution. On 29 November, the AHTU team apprehended Mozam at L.B. Nagar crossroads and rescued two victims from Bangladesh. Based on his confession, Liton Sarkar, Abir Shaik, and Muntaz Ali Mondal were arrested and four cell phones seized from them. All of them are from various districts of West Bengal.

Mozam was working in Mumbai in a chicken shop when he became acquainted with a sex worker Priya. They fell in love and Mozam became involved in the prostitution business thereby earning huge sums. He then started supplying sex workers to brothels. Two years ago, he came to Hyderabad and rented an apartment in Manikonda. He started supplying women to customers in the city, collecting Rs. 6,000- 8,000 for each paid through PhonePay or GooglePay. He gave the women Rs. 2,000-3,000 each.

He employed Liton, Abir, and Muntaz to attend to the needs of the female sex workers and run the brothels. Mozam earned about Rs. 8 lakhs within a year.

All four were apprehended on Monday.
