4 IPL cricket bookies held in Miyapur; London organiser absconding
They seized Rs 40,00,000 in cash and Rs 3,57,461 by freezing five bank accounts along with laptops, tabs and mobile phones
By Newsmeter Network Published on 10 April 2024 9:52 AM GMTHyderabad: The SOT Madhapur team and Miyapur police jointly arrested four online cricket betting bookies at Flat No. 505, Srinidhi Service Apartment, Mathrusri Nagar under the limits of Miyapur PS and seized around Rs 43.57 lakhs.
Case details
On credible information, the SOT Madhapur team apprehended four bookies identified as Aluru Trinadh (34), Manam Rajesh (33), Bolle Swamy (30) and Marpenna Ganapathi Rao (57) at Mathrusri Nagar organising online cricket betting through Cricket Live Guru app and Lucky Online app on the ongoing IPL-2024 matches. They seized Rs 40,00,000 in cash and Rs 3,57,461 by freezing five bank accounts along with laptops, tabs and mobile phones.
Further investigation revealed that Shakamuri Venkateshwar Rao alias Chinnu a resident of London, UK, was organising online cricket betting and Aaluru Trinadh, Manam Rajesh, Bolle Swamy and Marpenna Ganapathi Rao are working as bookies on his behalf. The police are yet to catch organiser Chinnu.
