51 caught red-handed by SHE Teams in Cyberabad for public harassment
Hyderabad: The Cyberabad SHE Teams caught 51 persons red-handed during decoy operations conducted between June 23 and 28, as part of intensified surveillance to curb harassment and indecent behaviour in public places.
According to officials, the teams carried out 137 decoy operations across various hotspots under the Cyberabad Commissionerate limits.
Of those caught, 50 petty cases were booked, and one FIR was registered. Counselling sessions were organised for all the respondents to sensitise them on public decency and the legal consequences of their actions.
19 complaints received from women
During the week, SHE Teams also received 19 complaints from women victims through direct, online and WhatsApp modes. Acting promptly, the teams ensured necessary interventions to address the grievances.
Focus on awareness and counselling
As part of preventive measures, 78 awareness programs were conducted in schools, colleges and public areas to educate youth and the general public on womenās safety laws and respectful behaviour. Additionally, five counselling sessions were held at the Women and Children Safety Wing, Cyberabad.
AHTU busts prostitution rackets
Meanwhile, the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) registered one PITA case and two street prostitution cases under the Kukatpally and KPHB police station limits. In one operation, one victim was rescued and two accused persons were apprehended.
In another case, six women sex workers, one transgender person and three gay individuals were rescued from prostitution rackets operating in the area. The AHTU also organised multiple awareness programs across Cyberabad to sensitise citizens on human trafficking and related crimes.
Safety and protection remain top priority
The Cyberabad Women and Children Safety Wing reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety, protection and welfare of women and children through continuous enforcement, counselling and awareness initiatives.
