Six Maoists were allegedly killed in an exchange of gunfire with security forces at a forest area on the Telangana - Chhattisgarh border area on Monday morning, police said.
The incident took place between 6:30 am and 7 am in the South Bastar area under Sukma district in the border area. The police party was carrying out a combing operation in the forest area on receiving information, according to Bhadradri Kothagudem district police.
It was a joint operation by Telangana and Chhattisgarh police. According to the information obtained, six bodies were recovered from the spot along with weapons.
A combing operation is in progress and additional forces are also deployed.
