6-member gang involved in Chodapalle robbery nabbed, Rs. 73k recovered

Visakhapatnam: The Vizag Rural police, on 26 December, arrested six members of a gang involved in a robbery that took place at Chodapalle under Atchutapuram police station limits in Vizag district. The police also recovered the stolen property - 60 gms gold, 90 gms silver, and Rs. 73,000 cash - from the gang.

The arrested have been identified as Pala Laxminarayana, Pala Naveen, and P. Rambabu of East Godavari district and Gorle Mosi, Gorle Prakash, and Gummadi Balaji of Vizianagaam district.

On the night of 21 November, six unidentified persons entered the house of K. Sita Ramayya at Chodapalle. They assaulted the residents, tied them up with ropes, and threatened to kill them if they retaliated. Two people were injured during the robbery and admitted to a hospital for treatment. The gang escaped with around 120 gms gold, 90 gms silver, and Rs. 80,000 cash and a few other valuables.

The ASP of Narsipatnam, Tuhin Sinha, said Pala Laxminarayana along with his relatives has been committing robberies to perform his daughter's marriage. He and his team select the houses and rob them at midnight. They arm themselves with knives and sticks, beat the inmates, and steal property. Based on credible information, the police nabbed the gang after a one-month investigation, he added.
