60 children hurt after school bus on picnic trip overturns near Shamshabad

Hyderabad: As many as 60 children of a private school suffered minor injuries when their bus overturned near Shamshabad.

The school children were going to Jalavihar for a picnic. According to the police report, the bus flipped while the driver tried to avoid a collision with a vehicle ahead of it.

Children in shock

The school children were in a state of shock, and most of them were unable recall what had happened.

No fatalities were reported. The injured were treated in the private hospitals in Shamshabad and the surrounding Ranga Reddy district local hospitals. After the incident, parents were informed who rushed to the hospital. The school authorities, along with the parents, were at the hospital when the children were discharged.

Traffic jam

The bus fell across the road, leading to a massive traffic jam in the area. People from around rushed towards the bus to rescue the children. The bus was lifted using a crane, and the traffic was restored on the Bengaluru Highway (NH 44).

Police have registered a case and are investigating.
