7 held in Hayathnagar for impersonating Duolingo English exam attendees
The accused had collected Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 from each student

Hyderabad: The LB Nagar police apprehended seven persons at Venkateshwara Lodge who were appearing for the online English eligibility test of Duolingo Exam on behalf of others to get admissions into universities in the USA, Ireland, Australia etc. The issue occurred under the limits of Hayathnagar police station.
The police said that the accused had collected Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 from each student to appear for the exam in their place and pass the exam.
The accused have been identified as Kandakatla Praveen Reddy (22), a resident of Hayathnagar; Trivedhi Harinath (21), a resident of Hayathnagar; Banala Krishna (22), a resident of Hayathnagar; Edavally Aravind Reddy (21), a resident of Begumpet; Nenavath Santhosh (22), a resident of Begumpet; Malladi Naveen Kumar (26), a resident of Kondapur; and Alakuntla Vinay (22) and a resident of Balapur.
While most of them posed as candidates who would impersonate the candidates and write the exam on their behalf, Harinath and Krishna would act as mediators who would make the arrangements with the students. All the accused are students in BSc and BTech degrees.
The police seized five laptops, four passports, seven cell phones, a keyboard along with a mouse. A case has been registered and further investigation is on.
