7-yr jail term for Kolthuru man who sexually assaulted minor in 2016

Hyderabad: A session court in LB Nagar, on 2 February, sentenced a man to seven years in prison for sexually assaulting a minor girl. The court also imposed a fine of Rs. 25,000 against the accused, Ganaji Srinath (32).

The victim's family is from Kolthuru village where Ganaji Srinath, a carpenter, also lived. Srinath had befriended the second daughter, a 17-year-old girl, and lured her with false promises of marriage.

On 17 December 2016, Srinath took the girl to a room in Siddipet. He then sexually assaulted her by saying he would marry her. The girl managed to escape from his clutches the next morning and reached her house.

Based on the family's complaint, Chandrashekar Reddy, the then Investigating officer, registered a missing case and started an investigation. The police arrested Srinath and sent him to judicial custody. A charge-sheet was filed after the completion of the investigation.
