Hyderabad: In a major road safety enforcement drive, the Hyderabad Traffic Police registered as many as 506 cases against drunk drivers during a two-day special crackdown conducted on February 27 and 28.
In a parallel weekend enforcement, the Cyberabad Police booked as many as 281 offenders, taking the total number of cases across the twin commissionerates to 787.
Authorities reiterated their zero-tolerance policy towards drunken driving, warning of stringent legal action against violators.

According to officials, the special ‘drunk and drive’ checks were conducted across the city to curb road accidents and enhance commuter safety.
Vehicle-wise breakup:
Two-wheelers: 401
Auto-rickshaws (three-wheelers): 47
Four-wheelers and others: 58
Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) levels
13 offenders were awarded a fine and imprisonment
5 were sentenced to a fine and community service
200 were imposed fines
Traffic police appealed to citizens to cooperate in ensuring safer roads and to avoid driving under the influence of alcohol.
