Visakhapatnam: Eight people died and many were injured in three separate incidents in Andhra Pradesh on Thursday. Four of a family died after their speeding car hit a culvert and crashed into the river. The incident took place near Merupavalli in Pungunooru road, Madanapalle village, in Annamayya district. The family was returning home after attending a wedding.
In another incident, four people were killed and seven were injured after an auto-rickshaw hit a vehicle. The incident took place near Chalapalli National Highway under Mopidevi mandal in Krishna district. According to the police, 21 members of a family were traveling in an auto to attend a marriage at Peddaprolu. The auto-rickshaw was trying to avoid a vehicle coming from the opposite direction when it fell. While four, including three women, died on the spot, seven severely injured were admitted to a government hospital.
The auto driver fled the spot. The police have lodged a case based on the complaint given by the family members.
Meanwhile, in Nellore, three persons attacked a man at a grocery shop. The injured has been identified as Vijay. He works in a garment shop. The locals who witnessed the incident immediately rushed him to the hospital. The police visited the incident spot and are checking the CCTV footage. They suspect that old clashes between Vijay and others might be the reason for the attack.
