Hyderabad: Telangana Police have arrested Falcon Managing Director Amar Deep in a Rs 850 crore digital investment scam.
He was arrested in Mumbai soon after he arrived from the Gulf on Monday night.
The arrest marks a crucial step forward in the investigation into the alleged Rs 850-crore digital investment scam.
Arrest at Mumbai Airport
On January 5, 2026, Amardeep Kumar was apprehended at Mumbai airport after returning from Iran, following the issuance of a Look Out Circular. He is being brought to Hyderabad on transit remand for further questioning.
₹850-crore digital deposit fraud
According to investigators, the accused operated through M/s Capital Protection Force Pvt. Ltd., using the brand name Falcon Invoice Discounting, to lure investors with false promises of high short-term returns.
Investigators allege that Amar Deep siphoned off around Rs 850 crore from investors by floating app-based digital deposit schemes. Funds were mobilised under the pretext of investments in multinational companies and high-return opportunities in the share market.
Fake deals, bogus website and app
CID officials said the accused developed a fraudulent website and mobile application, created fake invoice discounting deals in the names of reputed multinational companies, and induced the public to invest. Through this modus operandi, the company allegedly collected around Rs 4,215 crore from 7,056 depositors, of whom 4,065 investors were cheated of nearly Rs 792 crore.
Cases registered, probe transferred to CID
Based on complaints received from victims, Crime Nos. 10, 11 and 12 of 2025 were initially registered at the Economic Offences Wing Police Station, Cyberabad, under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Telangana Protection of Depositors of Financial Establishments (TSPDEF) Act, 1999. The cases were later transferred to Crime Investigation Department Telangana for comprehensive investigation.
Flight to Dubai after the scam surfaced
Officials revealed that immediately after the Falcon scam came to light, Amar Deep and his wife fled to Dubai on a chartered flight. This prompted authorities to intensify surveillance and initiate measures to track his international movements.
11 accused held, assets identified
So far, 11 accused, including company directors, senior executives and a chartered accountant, have been arrested and remanded to judicial custody.
CID officials said assets worth approximately Rs 43 crore have been identified and are in the process of attachment. These include 12 plots, four luxury cars, Rs 8 lakh in cash, 21 tolas of gold, RDP shares worth Rs 20 crore, and bank balances of Rs 8 crore.
Probe under senior supervision
The investigation is being carried out under the supervision of Telangana CID Additional Director General of Police Charu Sinha. Officials said efforts are continuing to trace the full money trail and identify additional assets linked to the fraud.
Public Advisory
CID has cautioned citizens against falling prey to online investment schemes that promise unrealistic or guaranteed returns, and urged the public to verify the credentials and regulatory approvals of financial platforms before investing.
