Hyderabad: ACB caught a police officer who demanded Rs 50,000 as bribe 

Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Hyderabad City Unit-1 arrested L Balu Chowhan, inspector of police at Shahinayathgunj police station here on charges of demanding and accepting a bribe on Friday.

The ACB said, the accused officer demanded Rs 50,000 from a complainant to delete his name as a suspect in a missing case registered at Shahinayathgunj police station, Nampally, and for not harassing him further.

Balu Chowhan initially demanded Rs 1,50,000 as a bribe and later reduced it to Rs 50,000. He thereby performed his public duty improperly and dishonestly. The bribe amount of Rs 50,000 was seized from him.

The accused officer was arrested and produced before the principal special judge for SPE and ACB cases, Court at Nampally. The case is under investigation.
