ACB arrests 22 govt officials in September, finds illegal assets worth over Rs 14 crore

Hyderabad: In September, the Anti-Corruption Bureau, Telangana, seized as much as Rs 8.91 lakh in trap cases in various departments. In the DA cases, as much as Rs 14,05,83,000 in disproportionate assets were unearthed.

Then, ACB registered a total of 23 cases/enquiries in September. Of these, 11 are trap cases, two disproportionate assets cases, two criminal misconduct cases, six regular enquiries and two surprise checks.

As many as 22 public servants, including one outsourcing employee/private person, were trapped/arrested and remanded to judicial custody.

189 public servants arrested since January

From January to September, the bureau has registered 203 cases, i.e. 119 trap cases, 13 DA cases, 20 criminal misconduct cases, 25 regular enquiries, 23 surprise checks and three discreet enquiries. As many as 189 public servants, including 15 outsourcing employees/private persons, were trapped/arrested and remanded to judicial custody.

As much as Rs 42,03,500 was seized in trap cases and assets worth Rs 58,36,18,724 were unearthed in DA cases of various departments.

In September, the bureau finalised 25 cases and sent final reports to the Government. The bureau finalised 204 cases from January to September

The bureau got a conviction in one trap case. Ch Srinivas Raju alias Srinvas, a Tahsildar, Thirumalagiri Mandal, Nalgonda District, was convicted on September 16, in which the accused officer was sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for one year and to pay a fine of Rs 25,000.
