ACB arrests Jagtial Panchayat Raj engineer over Rs 7,000 bribe

Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau officials caught Panchayat Raj assistant engineer (AE) of Quality Control, Anil Kumar, taking a bribe of Rs 7,000 at the Jagtial Panchayat Raj Department Quality Control Office. The ACB laid a trap for the engineer after a complaint was made.
Contractor Venkatesham from Korutla town approached quality controller Anil for a bill of Rs 13,85,000 for various works he had completed over the past four years. However, Anil demanded a bribe of Rs 18,000 to clear the bills.
Anil Kumar signed a contract with contractor Venkatesh for Rs 10,000. Venkatesh said that he gave Rs 3,000 to Anil Kumar three days ago. Then the victim approached the ACB by paying a bribe of Rs 7,000. They set a trap and caught AE Anil red-handed with the cash.
A case has been registered and further investigation is on. The ACB arrested the AE and produced him before the court, following which he was sent to judicial remand. Officials said the case is under further investigation.
