Karimnagar: A Superintendent in the Office of the Joint Director Works Accounts (WA), Karimnagar, was taken into custody by the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly collecting ₹14.77 lakh in bribes through UPI transactions by promising official favours in the scrutiny and approval of files.
ACB arrests Works Accounts Superintendent
Eegala Madhusudhan (50) allegedly received the bribe amount between September 15, 2022, and September 20, 2023. According to ACB officials, the payments were made through multiple UPI transactions.
Benami bank account used
Investigators found that the accused used a benami account in Bhadradri Co-operative Urban Bank Ltd. to receive the illegal payments. The account was reportedly used to route the bribe money digitally.
Favours in file scrutiny
ACB officials said Madhusudhan allegedly demanded money from individuals to conceal discrepancies or make corrections in files pending scrutiny and approval, thereby extending “official favours”.
Further probe underway
A case has been registered against the accused and the ACB is continuing its investigation to trace additional transactions and identify others involved in the case.
