ACB arrests Kotapalli deputy tahsildar for taking Rs 10,000 bribe
Mancherial: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Friday arrested the deputy tahsildar of Kotapalli mandal and a private person for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.
Bribe demanded for Aadhaar-Khata link
Officials said Akireddy Naveen Kumar, deputy tahsildar and joint sub-registrar of Kotapalli mandal, was caught red-handed in his office after he took the bribe through a private person, Gavidi Anjanna. Anjanna was working on behalf of his father, an attendant in the office.
The bribe was demanded from a complainant to process his file for linking his father’s Aadhaar card with the revenue khata and to forward the same to higher authorities for issuance of a Pattadar Passbook.
Tainted money recovered
The ACB team recovered the tainted currency from Anjanna, whose fingers tested positive in the chemical test. Officials said the deputy tahsildar acted dishonestly and misused his official position to gain an undue advantage.
The deputy tahsildar and Anjanna were arrested and produced before the Special Judge for SPE & ACB cases in Karimnagar. The case is under further investigation. The identity of the complainant has been kept confidential for security reasons.
