ACB arrests Manuguru police inspector, TV reporter for taking Rs 1 lakh bribe
Khammam: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Khammam range officials have arrested Soma Satish Kumar, Inspector of Police and SHO Manuguru Police Station, Bhadradri Kothagudem District and Big TV reporter Mittapalli Gopi in a bribery case.
In a press statement issued here on Monday, the ACB officials said that a trap was set at approximately 1:50 pm based on particular inputs, and Gopi, acting on Satish Kumarās orders, received a bribe of Rs 1,00,000 along with a demand of Rs 4,00,000 from a complainant.
As per the instructions of Satish, Gopi acted as an intermediary and played a key role in facilitating the deal between the complainant and Sathish for extending an official favour-specifically, for not including the names of the complainant and his nephew in Crime No. 150/2025, registered under Sections 318(4), 329(3) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), and Section of the Telangana State Gaming (Amendment) Act (TSGLA), at Manuguru Police Station.
The chemical test conducted during the trap operation yielded positive results on both hands and fingers of Gopi and on the right-hand pant pocket. The identity of the complainant is being withheld for security reasons.
Satish Kumar and Gopi are being arrested and produced before the III Additional Sessions Judge for SPE & ACB Cases, Warangal. The case is under investigation, the ACB officials said.
The ACB officials urged people to call 1064 (toll-free number) to report any public servant asking for a bribe. The name and details of the complainant will be kept confidential.
