Rajendra Nagar bill collector caught taking Rs 1 lakh bribe to waive property tax hike

Hyderabad: Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials caught red-handed C Madhu, the bill collector of Rajendra Nagar Circle at GHMC for demanding Rs 1 lakh as a bribe and accepting Rs 45,000 through his private servant V Ramesh.

The accused officer asked the complainant for the bribe in exchange for showing official favour i.e., ā€˜to not hike property tax of the complainantā€™s factory.ā€™

The bribe was recovered from Ramesh and his right-hand fingers yielded positive in a chemical test.

Since the public official performed his public duty improperly and dishonestly, Madhu and Ramesh were arrested and produced before the Addl Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases, Court at Nampally, Hyderabad. The case is under investigation.

The ACB officials urged people to call 1064 (toll-free number) to report any public servant asking for a bribe.
