Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday caught a Junior Assistant working in the Deputy Educational Office, Bandlaguda, red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 for extending an official favour related to SSC examination centres.

According to ACB officials, the accused, Shiva Prasad, Junior Assistant in the Office of the Deputy Educational Officer, Bandlaguda, Hyderabad, demanded and accepted the bribe from a complainant at his office on Wednesday
The bribe was sought to ensure that the complainant’s school was not removed from the list of SSC board examination centres.
Bribe amount recovered
The tainted cash of Rs 10,000 was recovered from the possession of the accused at his instance. ACB officials stated that the Junior Assistant misused his official position and acted dishonestly to obtain undue personal gain.
Following the trap, the accused was arrested and produced before the I Additional Special Judge for SPE & ACB Cases, Nampally, for judicial remand. Further investigation into the case is underway.
The identity of the complainant has been withheld for security reasons, ACB officials said.
