ACB catches Musheerabad revenue inspector taking Rs 25,000 bribe
Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday apprehended a revenue inspector from the Musheerabad Tahsildarās Office for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 as part of a Rs 1,00,000 demand to issue a family member certificate.
The accused, Bhoopala Mahesh, was caught red-handed by officials of the ACB City Range Unit-2 while receiving the amount from the complainant. The bribe was reportedly demanded to expedite the issuance of an official family certificate.
According to the ACB, the accused officer had dishonestly performed his public duty by demanding illegal gratification in exchange for official favour. Acting on the complaint, the ACB laid a trap and successfully recovered the amount from the accused at his office.
Following his arrest, Bhoopala Mahesh was produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases at Nampally. Officials confirmed that further investigation into the case is ongoing, according to a statement issued by the ACB officials.
