Nalgonda: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday caught a Mandal Revenue Inspector in Nalgonda red-handed while allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000.
The ACB said the bribe was for processing a land-related application in Gurrampode Mandal of Nalgonda district.
Bribe for land record restoration
According to ACB officials, the accused officer, Mohammed Abdul Hakeem, Mandal Revenue Inspector of Gurrampode Mandal, demanded the bribe from a complainant to process and forward an application to the Tahsildar.
The application pertained to the restoration of deleted land details in Survey No. 225/6, measuring Ac.1.15 guntas, in the online 1-B Register (Record of Rights).
Caught red-handed at MRO office
The ACB laid a trap and caught the officer at around 1 pm inside the MRO office premises at Gurrampode while accepting the bribe amount. The tainted cash of Rs 20,000 was recovered from the possession of the accused at his instance.
Arrest and legal proceedings
Officials stated that the officer performed his public duty improperly and dishonestly to obtain an undue advantage. He is being arrested and will be produced before the I Additional Special Judge for Trial of SPE & ACB Cases, Hyderabad.
Investigation underway
The case is currently under investigation. The identity and details of the complainant have been withheld by the authorities for security reasons.
