ACB catches Quthbullapur VRO red-handed taking Rs 20,000 bribe for family member certificate
Hyderabad: A Junior Assistant in-charge of Grama Paalana Officer (Village Revenue Officer) at Quthbullapur Tahsil Office in Medchal–Malkajgiri district was caught red-handed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday while accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 for processing a family member certificate.
The accused officer, identified as G Ganesh, was trapped by the ACB City Range-I unit after he allegedly demanded Rs 20,000 from the complainant to process and issue the certificate.
According to officials, he had already collected Rs 5,000 earlier as an initial payment and was receiving the remaining Rs 15,000 when ACB officials conducted the raid.
Bribe amount recovered
The tainted cash of Rs 15,000 was recovered from the possession of the officer at his instance. ACB officials stated that the accused performed his official duties improperly and dishonestly to obtain an undue advantage.
The officer has been arrested and will be produced before the I Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases, Nampally, for judicial remand. The investigation is ongoing. The identity of the complainant has been withheld for security reasons.
