ACB catches Vizag ward education secretary Pyla Rajesh red-handed taking Rs 80,000 bribe
Visakhapatnam: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Monday caught a Ward Education and Data Processing Secretary red-handed while allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 80,000 for processing a property mutation application.
Complaint to ACB leads to trap
The accused, identified as Pyla Rajesh, was working at the Lalitha Nagar Ward Secretariat in Akkayyapalem.
The case was registered under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act following a complaint by Dwarapureddy Akshay Ganesh, a resident of Sivajipalem.
Bribe demand for mutation process
According to ACB officials, the complainant had applied for mutation of property in municipal records in favour of his father after a settlement deed was executed by his grandmother in December 2025.
During the process, the official allegedly informed the complainant that Rs 45,000 was required as official charges, but additionally demanded a bribe of Rs 90,000 to complete the work. The amount was later reduced to Rs 80,000 after negotiations.
Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached ACB authorities, who laid a trap.
Caught red-handed
On March 23, ACB officials caught the accused red-handed while he was accepting the bribe amount in his office premises. He was immediately taken into custody.
Accused’s home and office raided
Following the arrest, ACB teams conducted searches at the accused’s residence and office. Officials said the accused will be produced before the ACB Court in Visakhapatnam.
Service background
Pyla Rajesh was appointed as a Ward Education and Data Processing Secretary in 2019. He previously served at the Seethammadhara Ward Secretariat until July 2025 and has been posted at Lalitha Nagar since then.
