ACB nabs Lingampet SI, constable for accepting Rs 10,000 as bribe

Hyderabad: Sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Telangana caught two police officers accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 for an official favour.
The accused officials were identified as Sub-Inspector Pabba Arun and Constable (Station Writer) Thota Rama Swamy of the Lingampet police station, Kamareddy district, Nizamabad range. Details of the complainant were not revealed due to security reasons.
Rama Swamy was caught red-handed on Thursday, when he accepted the bribe amount of Rs 10,000 from the complainant on the instructions of the sub-inspector.

The officer had allegedly sought the bribe in connection with a criminal case registered against the complainant. The accused officers were charged for “improperly and dishonestly” executing their public duty.
The ACB collected the bribe amount from Rama Swamy’s hand bag. His fingers on both hands yielded positive in a chemical test.
The accused have been arrested and produced before the II Additional special judge for SPE and ACB cases at Nampally. The case is under investigation.
