ACB raids: Adilabad, Medak and Khammam govt officials caught taking bribes
Hyderabad: Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials caught three government officials taking bribes. The ACB conducted raids in multiple locations and cracked a whip on officials demanding bribes to execute official works.
Adilabad education department official
In the Adilabad district, the ACB officials caught Jinnamwar Shankar, Deputy EE of Educational and Welfare Infrastructure Development Corporation (EWIDC), Adilabad Town, demanding a bribe amount of Rs 1,00,000 and accepting Rs 50,000 as a first instalment from the complainant.
The accused officer demanded the bribe amount for showing an official favour for the sanction of Rs 2 crore bill towards the construction of the Minority Residential School (Girls) building at Adilabad Town constructed by the complainant. Initially, the DEE demanded Rs 2,00,000 and, at the request of the complainant, reduced the bribe amount to Rs 1,00,000.
Medak revenue inspector
In Medak district, the ACB officials caught Nakirekanti Janaiah, a revenue inspector, Municipal Office, Medak Town and District, demanding a bribe amount of Rs 20,000 and accepting Rs 12,000 from the complainant to do an official favour.
Janaiah demanded the bribe amount to conduct an inquiry on the application of mutation related to the open plot of the applicant (known person of the complainant) and to submit the same report to the municipal commissioner, Medak Town.

In another incident, the ACB officials caught Somla, senior assistant, Superintendent of Prohibition and Excise office, Khammam District for demanding and accepting the bribe amount of Rs 1,500 from the complainant for doing an official favour to provide a photocopy of license pertaining to a bar and restaurant in the name of complainantās mother, who conducted business in the past.
He was arrested and would be produced before an additional sessions judge for SPE and ACB cases, Warangal.
The ACB officials urged people to call 1064 (toll-free number) to report any public servant asking for a bribe. The name and details of the complainant will be kept confidential.
