ACB raids sub-registrar offices in Nandyal, Chittoor; seizes ₹1.28L unaccounted cash

Vijayawada: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday raided Sub-Registrar Offices (SROs) in Nandyal and Chittoor, and uncovered ₹1.28 lakh unaccounted cash and detected suspicious transactions and procedural violations.

Officials said a detailed inquiry has been initiated, and further action will follow based on findings.

Irregularities at Nandyal SRO

During the raid at the Nandyal Sub-Registrar Office, ACB officials detected multiple violations:

Unaccounted cash amounting to ₹16,110 was seized from staff members.

Twelve document writers and four private individuals were found inside the office premises, violating established norms.

Suspicious PhonePe transactions were noticed on mobile phones belonging to Hussain Peera, Junior Assistant to the Sub-Registrar, and Surekha, a Junior Assistant in the District Registrar’s office.

Cash seizures at Chittoor SRO

At the Chittoor Sub-Registrar Office, officials found significant amounts of cash at different locations:

₹30,200 recovered from various places within the office.

₹4,440 seized from office staff.

₹79,090 found in possession of document writers present during the inspection.

The total unaccounted cash recovered at the Chittoor office stood at ₹1,12,730.

Probe underway

ACB officials stated that a detailed investigation is underway into the seized cash and the irregularities observed during the raids. Searches are continuing at both locations, and more details are expected to emerge.

The ACB has appealed to citizens to report instances of bribery or corruption through its toll-free number 1064, mobile number 9440440057, or via email at complaints-acb@ap.gov.in.
